Pushing boards across the jointer requires much less muscle. The buttery smell is also pleasant. Makes me want to eat popcorn. I re-apply Top Saver every few months when a smudge appears. Almost as good as new, just some minor discoloring. That was 5 years ago, and the tools haven't changed a bit. I started using Top Saver about 6 months after I bought my table saw and jointer because I was dismayed at the rusty smudges appearing on the table tops. I have corrosively sweaty palms, and it doesn't take long for a tool to be wrecked in my hands. After about 5 minutes of heavy scrubbing the tables were rust-free. It works well at protecting the raw metal surfaces, and it also drastically reduces sliding friction.
Quite possibly the worse single product I have ever purchased. This is a ridiculously poor product. I recently applied this product to the tops of my tablesaw, joiner, and bandsaw, and was startled to find, about two weeks later, a coating of rust on all three machines. In fact, I was able to detect small pactches on the sides of the machine tables where I had neglected to apply the product, and where the metal had still not rusted. Perhaps it was due to the temperatures dropping into the 20s, but DO NOT purchase and use this product to protect bare metal on woodworking machines that are going to be unused for a few months during the winter.
Excellent product, did exactly was it was advertised to do. It three or four applications and elbow grease to get my table saw top to the condition I wanted but I am very satisfied with the product.
However, you will notice discoloration in the areas where rust had been. It worked great. It was worth the money if you have no other similar products at home. This product will remove light rust from raw metal surfaces. I used it on my wood joiner, table saw and band saw. After using the sealer the surfaces were back to their original smoothness.
Easy to use. Restored an oxidized saw table to almost new. Finally, a product that actually works on rust.
